APPOINTMENT SCHEDULING Appointments with Dr. Lommer are
available on Tuesday mornings and Wednesday afternoons in San Francisco
and on Wednesday mornings, Thursdays and Fridays in Corte Madera.
Consultation/examination and post-operative
recheck appointments may be scheduled online. Appointments for procedures
are scheduled only by AADS staff, after we have examined your pet.
Make an appointment. At the AppointmentQuest site, you
will be required to register and will have the opportunity to create a username
and password for future use. All information is kept private and will never
be provided to third parties. Credit card information is collected for all
clients, but will only be used in the event that you fail to appear for a
scheduled appointment.
Initial Consultations: Consultation appointments are available on
Wednesday afternoons and Tuesday mornings in San Francisco and on
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings in Corte Madera.
These appointments typically take 20-30 minutes and cost $110.
Please bring the name of your family veterinarian, results of recent blood tests or other diagnostics performed by your veterinarian, and
details regarding any medications you are currently giving your pet.
"Why does my pet need a consultation first? Why can't we just come in for
the procedure? "
Although your family veterinarian may have examined your pet recently, it is
important for Dr. Lommer to evaluate your pet prior to the procedure for a
number of reasons:
Most importantly, because general anesthesia is required for all dental
procedures, the doctor who will be treating your pet needs to perform a thorough physical examination on your
pet prior to the procedure. Rather than taking a "one-size-fits-all" approach to
anesthesia, we tailor the anesthetic protocol (including the types and dosages
of anesthetic drugs) to each individual patient. It is important for us to
get to know your pet's medical history, current physical condition, and
personality in order to select the best anesthetic regimen.
In addition, a dental specialist may identify additional oral problems beyond those
identified on a routine physical examination by a family practitioner. By
performing the initial examination at a separate visit, we are better able to
schedule the appropriate amount of surgical time for each patient.
Make an Examination/Consultation Appointment
Please note: We require 48 hours' notice for cancellation or rescheduling. Because we
often have a 3-4 week wait for appointments,
we offer a waiting list for cancellations. If we
receive less than 48 hours' notice and we are unable to fill the
appointment with someone from our waiting list, the cost of the consult
will be charged. In addition, if you are more than 10 minutes late for
your consultation appointment, the appointment
may need to be rescheduled for another day, and the cancellation fee will apply.
Surgical & procedural appointments: These appointments are
scheduled by doctor approval only, after we have examined your pet. Therefore,
self-booking/online appointments are not available for procedures. Instructions: Do not feed your pet after midnight the day of
the appointment. Water should be withheld from dogs after 6:00am as well. Oral
medications may be given the morning of the appointment, with a small amount of
water if necessary.
Recheck appointments: Recheck appointments are scheduled for
patients who have recently been treated in our practice. If it has
been more than 3 months since your pet has seen Dr. Lommer, you
must schedule an examination/consultation appointment rather than a
post-operative recheck appointment. (A $51 charge applies for consultation visits for pets we have seen within the
past year rather than the $110 fee for new patient examinations.) Also, if
your pet needs recheck x-rays of root canal treatment or a periodontal surgery
site, please call us directly to schedule, as these rechecks require anesthesia.

Cancellation policy:
If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, we request that you do so a
minimum of 48 hours in advance. This will enable us to take care of someone else’s pet sooner.
A fee will be charged for procedural or surgical appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours'
notice.
If you would like to schedule an appointment by phone rather than online, please
call 415-533-AADS (2237).
REFERRAL POLICY
Although a referral is not required to schedule an appointment, we usually see patients on a referral basis from the patient's primary care veterinarian, acting as an extension of the family veterinarian's care. To facilitate examination, your veterinarian
may provide information about your pet's medical history to us by phone, fax
(415-532-2257), e-mail, or letter. If anesthesia and treatment are planned, your veterinarian may also run blood tests, take chest x-rays, or perform other tests prior to your appointment with Dr. Lommer.
In order to assist your family veterinarian in maintaining current records and
continuing a close relationship with you and your pet, a written report
summarizing the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up recommendations will be
faxed to your veterinarian after your pet's visit. Within 48 hours of your pet's
discharge from the hospital, photographs and radiographs from your pet's
procedure will be visible online at
our flickr site.
